Gwarighat, a beautiful ghat located at the bank of river Narmada near the city of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The Narmada river is the fifth longest river in Indian subcontinent. Its huge contibution to Madhya Pradesh, makes it the "Life Line" of Madhya Pradesh. 


Gwarighat is a very beautiful tourist place to visit in Jabalpur. This place is associated with Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, who undertook his four journeys, also known as "Udasis". A beautiful Gurudwara also located at the Gwarighat. During the journey of Udasis, Guru Nanak Ji and his companinon walked along the northeast side of river Narmada until they reached gwarighat. This beautiful place is blessed by him while crossing river Narmada.

The Gwarighat is also known as a "Religious place" by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. There are various famous temples in Gwarighat including Shri Ramlalla mandir, Siddhi Vinayak Mandir, Chaandi ke Ganesh Ji & Geeta Dhaam.
There is a temple situated at the center of narmada river, known as Narmada Mata Mandir at Gwarighat. This temple is worshiped by people of jabalpur. There is a facility of boating at ghat. By man powerded boats people visit this temple because this temple is at the center of ghat. 

Daily at 19.30 IST, Narmada mata Aarti is performed by Brahmins at this beautiful ghat. Aarti is  ancient Hindu ritual offered to Gods, Holy things, spiritual leaders etc. Aarti word is from Sanskrit which means remover of darkness.

On the other side of Gwarighat there is Gurudwara Gwarighat Saheb is loacated. Sant Tulsa Singh served at this hallowed site associated with Shri Guru Nanak Ji. After he passed away, the Sikh Sanghat of Jabalpur consituted a committee to look after this place. Gurudwa provides the facility of Guru ka langar, rooms for visitors to stay, a beautiful museum with paintings related to history of Sikhism and a Homeopathic dispensary for free medical care for sick and infirm.

Amazing facts too know about Gwarighat:

  • During rainy season, the temple goes inside the Narmada river water. The level of water increase up to stairs level and we will not able to see this temple in rainy season.
  • Narmada mata aarti is performed at Gwarighat daily at 07:30pm.
  • Boating facility is available for people to visit temple at the center of ghat and Gurudwara at the other side of Gwarighat.
  • During Ganesh Puja, people come for visarjan of Ganesh Pratima(idol) at Gwarighat.
  • A beautiful tourist place surrounded by nature beauty .


How to reach Gwarighat:

1. By metro bus:- The distance between Gwarighat and Jabalpur station is 10Kilometers.
2. By auto/taxi: Fare between 150rs-200rs.
3. By two-wheeler:- From Jabalpur station it takes 20 mins to reach Gwarighat by scooter.
